The pregnancy tag

Thank you Chloe for the tag! I love doing things like this, it’s such a nice way to get to know people & open up a bit!

If you want to see Chloe’s answers head here.

1. How and when did you find out you were pregnant?

I found out the day after my sister’s graduation. I remember feeling so tired & sick on the way home from Norwich. I’d been feeling odd for weeks and had done several negative tests but this time I had a feeling it would be positive. I made Seb go and buy the test because I was too embarrassed.. I was by myself on our bed & I text my mum straight away.

2. How did you feel?

Although I had a feeling it would be positive, I was shocked and scared. It was a very overwhelming feeling.

3. How old were you?

22

4. How did you tell your partner?

We’d always had a joke where I called him “Baby Daddy” so I changed his nickname on our FB messenger chat to “Baby Daddy” and sent him a picture of the test. *CRINGE* He didn’t respond for AGES because he was at work – looking back, I wish I’d waited and thought of a more special way to tell him. He was soooo happy!

5. Did you wait three months to tell people? Why/why not?

I told my mum & one of my best friends straight away – I needed to have a bit of support! I then told people close to me in dribs and drabs, I didn’t want to jinx it and I had to be careful about who found out because I hadn’t told my work yet. I was so reluctant to tell my family, I found it so embarrassing although I’m not sure why! When I told my sisters they didn’t believe me and I told my Dad by text because I was so scared what he’d say!!

6. Is this your first?

Yes

7. Do you want more?

No. You never know what’s around the corner but at the moment I’m very happy with my little family & would probably only have another one if I didn’t have to go back to work after – I can’t do that again!

8. Your biggest craving?

I didn’t really crave anything. I ate a lot of mango so maybe that.

9. What’s the best part of being pregnant?

I genuinely hated pregnancy, I’m such an anxious person. I guess feeling your baby move and feeling that connection is amazing but it also comes with so many things to worry about!

I have a whole new relationship with my body now though and that’s definitely a good thing!

10. What’s the worst part of being pregnant?

How responsible you feel for the little life inside you but there’s no way of knowing if everything is ok.

11. Will you/did you find out the gender? What do you prefer?

We did & it was the right decision for us then but afterwards I worried so much they’d got it wrong and I wouldn’t be prepared. If we ever do have another one we won’t find out (although I wouldn’t want to feel disappointed at the birth so maybe it would be a good idea to…)

12. Do you/did you have names picked out, and what are the stories behind them?

We had names from the moment we found out I was pregnant. We agreed on a boy’s name really quickly but a girl’s name took a long time. Saskia was the only name we both agreed on! It’s funny because when you’re thinking about it before you’re pregnant it’s so easy to think up names but when it’s actually for real you end up going off your whole list!

I always liked classic names – Georgia, Kitty and Florence were top of my list but Seb likes errrm interesting names…

We always knew Evangeline would be her middle name. It’s always been my favourite name but so many babies are called Evie at the moment, we couldn’t have it as a first name!

13. What is/was your birth plan?

I didn’t really had a birth plan other than “I want it to be as natural as possible” – be careful what you wish for folks! I ended up having no pain relief and it almost killed me. I would have given my right leg for an epidural!

14. Will you/did you breastfeed?

No I didn’t. I started off trying as you’re put under so much pressure to do so but it wasn’t for me and it wasn’t for Saskia. If you want my full story then check out my other blog post “Fed is best“.

I’m not anti-breastfeeding by any means but I don’t think people should be made to feel bad for bottle feeding like I was. There’s more to it than just persevering, sometimes it just isn’t healthy for mama or baby. (Not speaking about just nutrients here!!)

15. Do you plan to work or be a stay at home mum?

Unfortunately, I went back to work full-time when Saskia was just 4 months old. I cherish every moment I get to spend with my little baby and hope that one day I’ll be able to spend a lot more time with her.

16. Will you/do you make your own baby food?

We do a bit of both. If what we’re cooking is suitable for Sass to eat, I’ll whizz it up in my nutribullet but a lot of the time it’s much more convenient to give her a jar. Life is about balance.

17. Do you/did you have nursery ideas/themes?

As soon as we bought our cottage we painted Saskia’s room bright pink and covered it with grey stars but now I’m going off it a bit. So, as I said in my “Here’s to 2018” post, I think this year I’ll paint it light grey with pink highlights & maybe a subtle Winnie the Pooh theme.

Love, Anna xox

I nominate Fi (beautybabyandme) seeing as her second Bubba is on the way any time soon! & Adele (justislaandi) because everyone needs to check out her gorgeous blog and ig (plus she’s got an amazing project on at the moment! #objectsfororgans (no pressure though, ladies!)
